Build the data infrastructure for robots operating in the real world.Robotics is moving from research labs into production across factories, warehouses, vehicles, and field deployments. When robots fail, behave unexpectedly, or need to be improved, engineers rely on data to understand what actually happened. At Foxglove, we build the observability, visualization, and data infrastructure that makes that possible. Our tools are used by robotics and autonomous systems teams to ingest, store, query, replay, and analyze massive volumes of multimodal sensor data from live systems and from production fleets.About the roleFoxglove is a robotics observability and visualization platform. We manage and provide access to large amounts of data across both our hosted platform and customer sites. We’re seeking a highly skilled product and Rust focused Software Engineer with professional experience delivering streaming and analytic workloads for robotics data. You’ll work with other engineers to design and develop our backend services, data processing pipelines, and interfaces.Key ResponsibilitiesIngesting massive volumes of sensor data through both batch and realtime offloadProviding low-latency random-access (in device, time, sensors) playback over massive volumes of live or recorded dataMulti-cloud architecture (we deploy in customer cloud accounts across GCP/AWS/Azure)Offloading data from remote devices in network constrained environmentsBuilding systems to manage petabytes of multi-modal data reliably and efficientlyOur technical stack includes:Ingestion, streaming, and other compute services in Rust and TypescriptPostgreSQLManaged Kubernetes environments in GCPCustomer deployments in Azure and AWSEndpoint software on customer robots written in RustWhat we're looking for6+ years experience writing production software2+ years experience using Rust professionallyExperience writing highly performant, memory-efficient codeExperience with binary data serialization or network communication protocolsExperience shipping software in network-constrained environmentsPassion for building technical tools with engineers as the primary usersComfortable participating in on-call rotationsExcellent written & verbal communication skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, small team environmentBonus points:Experience in robotics or autonomous vehiclesExperience with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, Azure, and/or KubernetesWhat we offerWork remotely$400 AUD monthly remote budget to build your personal workspaceCompetitive equity grant in a Series B company4 weeks vacation, plus holidays and winter breakAll expenses paid company off-sites 1-2× per yearWhy Join UsImpact: Own growth at a fast-growing, high-leverage moment for the company.Mission: Accelerate the development of the next generation of robotics and embodied AI.Team: Work with world-class engineers, designers, and researchers passionate about open-source and developer tools.Ownership: Drive initiatives end-to-end, with high autonomy and visibility.
