Software Engineer (LLM Products)
We’re seeking a mission-driven software engineer to help build the next generation of political research tools powered by generative AI. As part of a team of seasoned software engineers, you’ll design, prototype, and scale products that help progressive campaigns make smarter, faster decisions—ranging from chatbots and content-generation tools to systems that summarize news and social media trends in real time.

Other Responsibilities Include:
AI & Content Automation: Develop agentic workflows, prompts, and evaluation tooling for LLM-based systems; automate video generation and editing (e.g., FFMPEG).
Core Engineering: Break down complex problems, design clear domain models, maintain separation of concerns, and write clean, reliable, well-tested code.
Backend Development: Build and maintain backend business logic, REST APIs, and data storage systems; ensure robustness, monitoring, and observability.
Technical Reasoning: Apply systems thinking to evaluate trade-offs, optimize for scale and performance, and focus on what drives the most impact.
Data Engineering: Design schemas, build ETL pipelines and workflow systems, manage SQL-based data infrastructure, and ensure data reliability.
Web Development: Build lightweight web tools and internal interfaces using HTML, CSS, JS, and Flask (we don’t build complex web apps).
Political Data: Work with voter files, survey data, and political models to deepen insights into campaign strategy.
About you:
Proficient in Python (our primary language) and comfortable writing and querying SQL (Postgres, BigQuery).

What we offer:
The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $210,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Fully remote environment with an office in NYC and a number of folks who work in-person regularly – both in NYC and at shared workspace meetups in DC. Most of our work happens on East Coast time.
