What this role is about: We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to lead the development of mission-critical features for our public safety platform, owning solutions end-to-end from intuitive user experiences to the services and architecture that power them. You’ll build high-performing, scalable, and reliable systems, shape architectural strategy, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver seamless, data-informed user experiences that help first responders act when every second counts. What you’ll do:  Drive Full-Stack Development: Lead the architecture, design, deployment, and implementation of new features for our public safety product(s), leveraging React, Typescript, and Python. Strategic Architectural Leadership: Lead strategic architectural decisions, drive technical alignment, and optimize applications for peak performance, scalability, accessibility, and the successful implementation of AI capabilities. Engineer Intuitive UX: Maintain and develop intuitive, user-centric interfaces for public safety systems, balancing aesthetics with practical interaction design, with a focus on leveraging AI to enhance user workflows. Enhance and Modernize: Proactively assess and enhance current applications, including refactoring code and upgrading core technologies. Ensure Product Reliability: Implement best-in-class software development practices (unit/integration/performance tests, monitoring, detailed specs) to guarantee products are highly reliable and fault-tolerant to operate in any emergency. Collaborate and Deliver: Work in an agile environment with stakeholders across Engineering, GTM, Design, and Product to develop impactful solutions, championing the use of AI to transform public safety. Champion Best Practices: Actively participate in code reviews and standups, sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and contributing to the continuous improvement of team processes. What we’re looking for in our ideal candidate:  5+ years of professional full-stack engineering experience with 3+ years of experience with TypeScript, React, and modern CSS frameworks and libraries Proficiency with ideally Python – proficiency with Go, node.js, Rust, Java, C++/C or a similar language will be considered with willingness to learn Python Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and delivering comprehensive end-to-end solutions in a cloud-based environment Ideally has experience building AI-driven features or using AI tools to enhance acceleration of development, and is proactive about leveraging emerging technologies Strong communication and interpersonal skills; is a team player with a positive attitude Highly self-motivated; ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of ownership Strong proficiency in coding best practices – ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code You are self-directed and enjoy solving difficult problems in a collaborative environment You are passionate about building and releasing software that serves a vital purpose; care deeply about the user experience and is able to quickly identify the optimal visual strategies to meet goals Ability and willingness to collaborate in-person a few times per quarter, or as needed Nice-to-have experience (but not required!): Experience with various vector and raster mapping softwares such as ESRI ArcGIS, Mapbox/MapLibre, and Google Maps SDKs Understanding of JavaScript security best practices Familiarity with asynchronous programming concepts, and comfortable with asynchronous systems (message buses, WebSockets) What we offer:  The chance to work with a passionate team on solving one of the largest challenges globally  Competitive salary and benefits and equity participation  A dynamic, flexible and fun start-up work environment with a highly talented team If you're curious to learn more about RapidSOS, you can check out https://rapidsos.com/blog/  Starting pay for a successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include experience, relevant skills, training, education, location, business needs, or market demands.
