This role exists to design efficient, reliable workflows that connect systems, data, and teams across the company.As Kin grows, operational complexity increases. You’ll partner closely with Software Engineering, Data, DevOps, Product, and business teams to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable automation solutions. Your work will directly improve speed, accuracy, and visibility across business-critical processes.Your responsibilitiesDesign, build, and own scalable automation solutions that improve efficiency across operational and business teams.Develop and maintain internal applications using tools such as Retool and workflow automation platforms.Build and manage automated workflows that integrate databases, APIs, and third-party systems.Own and optimize PostgreSQL database structures to support automation and internal applications.Integrate internal and external APIs to enable seamless data flow between systems.Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business requirements into clear, scalable technical solutions.Troubleshoot, monitor, and continuously improve business-critical automations and internal tools.Proactively identify new automation opportunities and implement solutions with measurable impact.Stay current on automation platform capabilities and share knowledge to elevate team-wide practices.Success in this roleIn your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. Along the way, you’ll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve.By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you’ve helped make.Manual, error-prone processes are replaced with reliable, scalable automation adopted consistently across teams.Internal tools and workflows are stable, well-documented, and trusted by stakeholders.Cross-functional teams experience faster turnaround times and improved visibility into automated processes.New automation opportunities are proactively identified and delivered with measurable operational impact.What you’ll bring3+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or automation-focused development roles.Hands-on experience building internal applications with Retool or similar internal tooling platforms.Strong SQL expertise with experience designing and optimizing PostgreSQL or comparable relational databases.Working knowledge of JavaScript for both front-end and back-end use cases.Experience integrating and consuming APIs within applications and automated workflows.Familiarity with version control systems such as GitHub in a collaborative development environment.Ability to translate business requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions.How we hireWe believe a great hiring experience should be clear, respectful, and human.
